Xiaomi launched the Mi Max 2 phablet in China back in May 2017, followed by an India launch in July 2017. A year later, it has been widely reported that the Chinese company will be launching a successor.
In what is as close to a confirmation as possible at this moment, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has revealed a time frame for the launch of the Mi Max 3. Responding to a query on Weibo, Jun said that the Mi Max 3 will be launching in July this year, Gizmochina reports.The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has been in the rumor mills for quite sometime now. Leaks hint at contemporary features like 18:9 aspect ratio display, wireless charging, iris recognition, and dual cameras among others. Besides the display, one of the highlights will no doubt be a large battery underneath. Reports hint at a massive 5,500mAh unit with support for Quick Charge 3.0, as well as Qi wireless charging. For photography, the phablet is expected to come with dual cameras at the back. Interestingly, recent leaks claim there won’t be a 3.5mm audio jack on board the Mi Max 3. On the software front, the phablet will run Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box.
