Qualcomm is shaping things up in the audio segment as it has announced the flash-programmable QCC3026 System-on-Chip (SoC), a chip that brings a truly wireless experience to Bluetooth headphones with lower power consumption that takes up 50 percent lesser charge than its older technology. The QCC3026 when made a reality will be able to provide customers with an all-day audio experience without needing the unit to be recharged from time to time which would make conventional users shift to Bluetooth headphones in an era where a headphone jack is ceasing existence.

With lower battery consumption and richer wireless connectivity, the QCC3026 will be even more in demand due to its affordable nature and could be the trigger to Bluetooth earphones getting cheaper. Qualcomm believes that with the latest affordable chipset, OEMs can propose to offer their wireless headphones bundled with their smartphones, like the way they used to with a good pair of wired headphones a few years ago.
Oppo has already explored and employed the latest Qualcomm chipset on its Oppo O-Free Bluetooth Headset which was announced last Friday and will be bundled for free on every purchase of the Oppo Find X Lamborghini Edition. The headphones here might still only offer close to four hours on a single charge but comes with a charging case that can easily charge the device up to 3 times, which means you’re juiced up for the entire day.
The Qualcomm QCC3026 will offer support for aptX Bluetooth audio codec, Bluetooth v5.0, Qualcomm Broadcast, TrueWireless Stereo and CVC audio technologies. The chipset will be made to sport a 32-bit architecture with a maximum clock speed of 32MHz and manufacturers can also opt to put their own digital assistants onboard if they deem it necessary. While the O-Free headphone are estimated to make its way to the market in August, expect the QCC3026 to power audio devices that release with the end of 2018.
