Samsung Galaxy Watch with LTE connectivity Launched


The major highlight of the Samsung Galaxy Watch is that it comes with LTE connectivity option. The company claims that the LTE connectivity can work across 30+ carriers and 15+ countries. With this, the watch can be used as a standalone device which will have the ability to make calls, messages, use maps and music.

Samsung has today announced the launch of its latest smartwatch during an Unpacked Event in New York. Dubbed as Samsung Galaxy Watch, the device will be available in the US on August 24, 2018, from select carriers and retail stores, in Korea from August 31, 2018, while rest of the selected markets will get the smartwatch on September 14, 2018.

The new smartwatch from Samsung comes in two version: 46mm and 42mm options. The former is available in silver colour options, while the latter comes in black and rose gold colour variants. The Galaxy Watch has its circular, rotating dial that is present in previous generation smartwatches as well. The watch features Always-On Display as well.

Perhaps, the major highlight of the Samsung Galaxy Watch is that it comes with LTE connectivity option. The company claims that the LTE connectivity can work across 30+ carriers and 15+ countries. With this, the smartwatch can be used as a standalone device which will have the ability to make calls, messages, use maps and music. The company claims that it can deliver up to 80 hours of battery life.

Samsung has focused on health as well. The watch comes with a new stress management tracker, which detects high levels of stress and offer breathing exercises to its users. Then there is a sleep tracker that can monitor all level of sleep including REM cycles. The watch also comes with 21 new indoor exercises.

Coming to key specifications, the 46mm version features a 1.3-inch Circular Super AMOLED Always-On display with Corning Gorilla DX+, while the 42mm models come with a 1.2-inch screen. Further, the 46mm model features a 22mm interchangeable straps, while 42mm features 20mm interchangeable straps.

The 46mm model is backed by a 472mAh battery, while the smaller sibling features 270mAh battery. Apart from this, both the models are powered by company’s in-house Exynos 9110 dual-core processor clocked at 1.15GHz. The Galaxy Watch is backed by a 1.5GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage for the LTE version, while the Bluetooth option features 768MB RAM and 4GB of internal storage.

The smartwatch runs on Wearable OS 4.0 based on Tizen. The smartwatch comes with 3G/LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi b/g/n, NFC, A-GPS/Glonass, Accelerometer, Gyro, Barometer, HRM and Ambient Light.
