Seagate Launches a new line of 14TB data drives for your PC


Starting off with the duo IronWolf and IronWolf Pro, the hard drives are specifically built for network attached storage (NAS) applications with a workload rating of up to 300TB/year. The drives are optimised with AgileArray firmware to offer RAID performance, dual-plane balance, RV sensors, advanced power management.

Data storage company Seagate has expanded its 14TB hard drive catalogue with the addition of IronWolf, IronWolf Pro, BarraCuda Pro, SkyHawk and Exos X14 hard disks. The new 14TB hard drive solutions are built for different purposes of consumers and start for $509.99 (approx. Rs 37,000).

Starting off with the duo IronWolf and IronWolf Pro, the hard drives are specifically built for network attached storage (NAS) applications with a workload rating of up to 300TB/year. The drives are optimised with AgileArray firmware to offer RAID performance, dual-plane balance, rotational vibration (RV) sensors, advanced power management and error recovery control. The IronWolf and IronWolf Pro drives feature a 3-year and 5-year limited warranty respectively with a 2-year Seagate Rescue Data Recovery service bundled with every purchase. The IronWolf and IronWolf Pro 14TB are available at a price of $529.99 (approx. Rs 38,500) and $599.99 (approx. Rs 43,600) respectively.

The BarraCuda Pro 14TB is a 3.5-inch HDD that offers versatile desktop performance for professionals to increase their productivity. The HDD delivers 7200 RPM spin speed with a transfer rate of up to 250mb/s and up to 256MB cache. The BarraCuda Pro 14TB is available at an asking price of $579.99 (approx. Rs 42,100).

Seagate’s SkyHawk 14TB HDD is the cheapest of the bunch at $509.99 (approx. Rs 37,000) but it offers the ability to store over 9000 hours of HD video and up to 64 HD cameras. The device runs on the ImagePerfect firmware which minimises dropped frames and downtime for optimal DVRs and NVRs performance. The SkyHawk 14TB is supported by a 3-year limited warranty with SkyHawk Health Management technology for monitoring and analysing drive health.

The most expensive of the latest lineup is the Exos X14 which delivers higher storage capabilities at faster data speeds for use in advanced hyperscale data centres. The HDD offers 40 percent more petabytes per rack compared to its predecessor with 10 percent reduction in weight. The device comes with a 5-year limited warranty and is available for $614.99 (approx. Rs 44,700).
