Months after introducing Amazon Pay UPI for Android users in India, Amazon Pay has now launched person to person (P2P) payments through its UPI service. Starting today, Amazon customers can make instant bank-to-bank transfers using UPI platform on the Amazon app on their Android phone. As a launch offer, users can get up to Rs 120 cashback on sending Money through UPI.
With the latest feature, users will now have the ability to settle bills/expenses with friends, lend/return money to family, pay rents, pay for services like house-help, newspaper bills, milk subscription and more. Users can also make payments from their bank account to local stores nearby or to Amazon delivery associate at the doorstep by scanning UPI QR codes using the Amazon app.
Amazon Pay UPI’s P2P service can be used by selecting a contact from a user’s phonebook or entering UPI ID or Bank Account of the recipient and then sending the payment they wish to make to the receiver. Amazon also allows users to send or request money instantly directly from the Amazon Mshop app.
Along with the P2P service, Amazon has also made it easier for customers to make repeat payments by displaying recent transactions. Amazon auto-detects if the contact is a registered Amazon Pay UPI customer and enables the instant bank to bank transfer.
In case the contact is not registered for Amazon Pay UPI, the customer has the option to pay using any another BHIM UPI ID or contact’s bank account. After selecting a contact, the user can input the amount and enter UPI PIN to confirm payment.
Amazon Pay UPI transactions including the latest P2P payments are secured through multi-factor authentication involving customer’s phone, SIM details, and UPI PIN. The money is transferred instantly and both customer and receiver are notified through SMS alerts and in-app notifications.
Speaking about the latest development, Amazon Pay Director, Vikas Bansal said “Our goal is to make Amazon Pay the most trusted, convenient and rewarding way to pay for our customers. The customers trust their Amazon app and we continue to expand payment use cases directly on the app. With this launch, we have the largest selection of shopping and payment use cases on the Amazon Android app which provides added convenience and control to our customers”.
Amazon Pay UPI person to person (P2P) payments is currently available through the Amazon app on Android phones.
