Huawei smartphones can now download VLC player from Google Play Store

The latest smartphones from Huawei can now download the video player.

It seems the war between Huawei and VLC has come to an end as the latter has lifted the ban on Huawei smartphones. With this, Huawei smartphone users can now download the VLC application from Google Play Store.

The development was first spotted by Android Police and it reveals that the latest smartphones from Huawei can now download the video player. Interestingly, VLC, through a tweet, says that it lifted the ban for “months already”. The company says that Huawei has fixed the firmware a long time ago and it released the app day after the availability.

The whole matter came into limelight in July last year when VLC banned latest Huawei smartphones from using its video player service. VLC blamed Huawei EMUI’s aggressive battery management which kills the background apps. VLC sites this as a ‘ridiculous policy’ and says that this feature affects the app functionality. The VLC reveals that killing background apps breaks the app’s audio background playback.

Meanwhile, Huawei introduced Huawei P30 Pro and P30 Lite in India. The P30 Pro comes with 8GB and 128GB storage which will cost you Rs 71,990. Huawei P30 Lite is priced at Rs 19,990 for 4GB RAM and 128GB storage and Rs 22,990 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage variant. P30 Pro will be available for purchase exclusively on Amazon India and Croma offline stores starting April 25. Buyers can get the Huawei Watch GT, worth Rs 15,990, by paying an additional Rs 2,000.
